Green houses gases affect more than just Earth's atmosphere, green house gases affect Earth's oceans as well. In recent years major environmental issues such as overfishing have been brought to the attention of the people of Earth. Overfishing for those who aren't quite sure what exactly it is, is fish species that are being fished at a rapid rate in which does not give enough time for the fish species to recover. This is an unsustainable issue that has had awareness brought to it. Ocean Acidification on the other hand has been a more recent discovery and very few people are aware of what this major issue is. According to The National Geographic, ocean acidification is, "massive amounts of CO2 into the seas is altering water chemistry and affecting the life cycles of many marine organisms, particularly those at the lower end of the food chain." This has also become a major issue due to the amount of Green House Gases, also know as CO2, being released into our atmosphere every year. So now both Earth's atmosphere and Earth's ocean are at stake. Ocean Acidification is a serious issue because the marine life that is impacted the most are the creatures at the bottom of the food chain. Without these creatures the food chain can collapse. This ties into overfishing because overfishing is already targeting keystone species and endangering these species that play important roles in marine ecosystems. So now there is double the trouble and our oceans, along with our atmosphere are endangered.
